There are many different treatments available to help control psoriasis, but no single treatment works for everyone. Usually a trial-and-error approach is taken to find the most appropriate one.

You have 3 basic types of treatments:

1.Topical treatment (applied directly to the skin)
2.Phototherapy (skin is exposed to ultraviolet light)
3.Systemic treatment (drugs or medications taken orally or by injection)

There is also a great number of alternative psoriasis treatments that include everything from acupuncture to fasting.

The goal is to find a treatment that works the best with the fewest side effects. One of the first principles of psoriasis treatment is to not create anything worse than the disease.

I have guttatte psoriasis. Have had three major outbreaks, the second covered about 85% of my body, from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet it was BAD. So I did UVB light therapy 4 times a week at the dermatologist office. I also got a prescription for this lotion that I had to get specially made at a compound pharmacy. Have no idea what it was called but it smelled like gasoline and ruins any clothes/bedsheets you use, and you have to bathe twice to get the smell out of your skin every morning. I’m not sure how much the gasoline lotion helped, but let me tell you the light therapy was heaven sent. It cleared up my skin completely in three weeks, except for a few small spots here and there. It was amazing, and the plus side is it gives you a great tan!

oilatum for you,r bath simple soap, coal tar soap seaweed soap if you can get it aqueous cream and i,ve heard e45 cream is good also, i don,t have this complaint myself but our lodger doe,s its not curable but you can reduce the effects of it by useing these products, you,r doctor can prescribe other stuff as well as what i,ve already mentioned appearently its due to a fast metabolism whatever that means but it grows the skin to fast and it has to have somewhere to go so it flakes off appearently its all to do with the nervous system
